On September 2, 2024, President-elect Joselito “Ito” Conti and his wife, Dr. Carolina Conti, paid a courtesy visit to UP President Angelo Jimenez at the Office of the University President in UP Diliman, Quezon City. He also met with Dr. Leo Cubillan, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and Iryn Balmores, the Vice-President for Planning and Finance. During this visit, Ito talked about the different social and outreach programs, and the 50@50 Iskolar ng Bayan fund-
raising activity that were being undertaken by UPAAW. Specifically, he discussed the scholarship programs that have been initiated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and in the UP system-wide schools to help the high achieving financially needy students. He also told them about the two (2) professorial chairs that have been established for the assistant professors at the Department of Psychology and Physics in UP Diliman.
To demonstrate UPAAW’s firm commitment to its scholarship program, Ito presented a check in the amount of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) to President Jimenez. This money will continue to fund the scholarship awards of two (2) senior graduating students.
Further, he personally thanked President Jimenez for his very warm, inspiring and thoughtful video message that he sent for the UPAAW 50 th Anniversary Gala Night which was held at Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin last June 30, 2024. Although he was not able to attend, he sent Ms. Balmores to represent him at this event. As a token of our appreciation, Ito gave a beautiful hard cover book about Wisconsin to President Jimenez, who was very appreciative of our memorable gift.
