Barrio Fiesta 2025: A Celebration of Culture, Community, and Camaraderie – Pinoy Style!

What a day to remember! The UPAA-W family brought the Philippine spirit to Greendale last Sunday, June 22, 2025, with our much-anticipated Barrio Fiesta — and what a fiesta it was!

From the moment guests arrived at Dr. Joey Abad Santos’s house, the air was filled with laughter, chatter, and the irresistible aroma of Filipino cuisine. The potluck table overflowed with delicious dishes like fresh lumpia, pancit bihon, ube cake, and chocolate cake — each one lovingly prepared and shared by everyone.

🎤 Highlights of the Day:

• A culinary showdown where members showcased their heirloom recipes and creative twists on Filipino classics — with prizes to boot!
• Heartfelt celebrations for June birthdays, our FASO guests, and the hot but radiant Wisconsin summer.
• A special toast to our very own UPAA-W President, Ito Conti, on their birthday!

🏆 Cooking Contest Winners:

• 🥇 First Place: Carol and Mark Conti for their mouthwatering pork barbecue
• 🥈 Second Place: Roselle Rogers for her rich and creamy pastel de lengua
• 🥉 Third Place: Gina Pahm for her flavorful menudo

The event was more than just a party — it was a joyful reunion of old friends and new faces, united by shared heritage and warm memories. Thank you to everyone who brought a dish, shared a story, and helped make this gathering truly unforgettable.

Special thanks to Dr. Joey S. Abad Santos and family for coordinating and hosting the potluck and to all the volunteers who made the day run smoothly.
